Getting towards the end of the New Zealand trip now! Milford Sound is one of those places that’s always recommended to check out in New Zealand. Although it’s a bit far, it’s definitely worth trying to make your way out to the sound of possible. We went with one of the standard methods to visit with a boat tour through the sound. We ended up getting some pretty nice sunny conditions with lots of gorgeous views of waterfalls and stunning glacially-carved cliffs where there’s no dirt and the trees simply hang on for dear life.
Also, last pic is a bonus summit view from a shorter hike we did in Fiordland National Park after our boat tour. It further showcases some of the cool mountain shapes the glaciers left behind (most prominently a large cirque which can be seen as the big bowl-shaped valley)
Side note: I’m currently sitting on a train on the way back home from the airport after some overly large amount of travel hours/days to get back from New Zealand. So, I’m officially back in the states for about a week and a half before heading out to Whistler in Canada for a return to winter adventuring!
